Age Concern Ayr  SCIO operate an Information and Advice Centre with specific focus on issues affecting those aged 55 and over in South Ayrshire.

We provide information, advice and form filling help with the following:

Completing Forms – It can sometimes be confusing completing some forms. There are people that struggle with writing, knowing what information is required or what to enter on the forms, or are put off by the amount of questions in the forms. Age Concern AYR SCIO are here to help make this process simpler for you. We can guide you through the process of requesting forms, processing forms in the timeframe required, and completing the forms with the relevant information.

Forms we can assist you with include:

• Attendance Allowance Applications (for those over 65)
• Carers Allowance Applications
• Blue Badge Applications
• Personal Independence Payment (under 65s)                                                                • Self Assessment Forms (requesting aids and adaptations)

We can also help with

• Explaining letters from DWP, Council, HMRC
• Calling the DWP, Council etc on your behalf
• Writing Letters of Appeal if turned down or overcharged
• Council Charging Procedures for Care Homes
• Concessionary Travel Card / Companion Card
• Warm Home Discount Scheme
• Assessing what Benefits you may be entitled to
• Information on Wills and Power of Attorney

As well as assisting you to save money with things like

  • Cheaper Car Insurance
  • Cheaper energy bills
  • Cheaper Home Insurance
  • Finding a trusted local trader

Our aim:

Age Concern Ayr SCIO’s Advice & Information Centre will aim to assist you with whatever enquiry you have and where we cannot resolve it fully, with your permission we will signpost you  to other supporting agencies.  Our goal however is to minimise the process of contacting third parties and we have built a sound portfolio of tools to use and have successfully helped our elderly clients to overcome the burden of completing daunting application forms / and or benefit renewal forms / dealing with requests from extortionate insurance provider renewals to finding cheaper energy tariffs / making sure you are receiving all the benefits you are entitled to and a whole lot more so please get in touch by phone 01292 265 304 or email ageconcernayr@gmail.com or visit our office (please check opening times).
